The intelWATT Project concluded with its 48th Month Progress Review Meeting, hosted at the National Centre for Scientific Research Demokritos in Athens, Greece. This was the conclusion of the Project, which started in 2020. From October 2nd to 4th, the Project’s Partners gathered to discuss and present the latest advances in innovative water and energy recovery technologies.
The meeting was packed with insightful presentations and discussions, highlighting the project’s success in developing and implementing sustainable solutions for industrial brine treatment and energy harvesting. Key topics included the latest advancements in membrane technologies, artificial water channels, and pilot plant performance results across several case studies.
Speakers such as Mihail Barboiu (CNRS), Andrea Lamberti (POLITO), and Alba Ruiz Aguirre (CIEMAT) presented breakthrough developments in water separation and energy efficiency. At the same time, Evangelous Kouvelos (NCSR) provided a deep dive into the solar-assisted membrane distillation units.
The discussions also touched on cutting-edge AI implementation for real-time monitoring, led by Laura Arocas (Avvale), and the integration of smart sensor systems, as presented by Evangelous Angelpoulos (FUELICS).
As the meeting wrapped up, Nicola Moro, Bianca Raffaelli, and Irene Cropanise (SFIESCHI) emphasized the sustainability assessment of intelWATT technologies, focusing on the environmental, economic, and social aspects of the project.
The Public Officers appreciated the Project’s work and final developments.
The intelWATT consortium celebrates this last successful milestone and looks forward to revealing even more exciting developments and outcomes in the coming weeks.
We also want to thank all the Project’s Partners for their efforts, their incredible work and the wonderful moments spent together. We hope that the intelWATT Project results will be the starting point of the next European Project for future safe and sustainable access to water.
